Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Follicular unit extraction is a method of graft harvesting in which individual follicular units (FU’s) are exposed & extracted from the donor area. Usually, the units with the most follicles are chosen for removal. Follicles are extracted using small 0.8mm punches, which offers the advantage of complete undetectability and is suitable for individuals requiring zero postoperative downtime. The whole concept of FUE is to reduce the amount of visible scarring; thus, mini punches are used.
How are FUE grafts harvested?
Dr. Rahul Jagiasi has been using a highly refined motorized punch producing finest and least traumatized grafts.
Day of Surgery
- Hairline planning & areas of concern are personally discussed with the patient and carefully marked before starting the procedure.
- Use of preservative-free anaesthetic solution to minimize the risk of allergic reactions.
- Pain-reducing technique: Application of Skin Anaesthetic Cream with occluding foil to numb the skin effectively before injecting local anesthesia.
- Local anesthetics administered using very thin insulin syringes — designed for the least possible discomfort.
- Use of cold packs and vibration massager during anesthesia to further reduce pain sensation.
- Patient positioned face down (sleeping position) for optimal comfort during harvesting.
- Entire FUE harvesting is performed personally by Dr. Rahul Jagiasi.
- Complete slits and implantation of grafts along the hairline are done personally by Dr. Rahul Jagiasi.
